Debate Chamber – This House believes we are becoming slaves to testing and standardised assessment

Sat 12 Mar 2016, 16:00 - 17:00 (Debate Chamber track)

Both national and international standardised tests consume an enormous amount of time and resource that could be better used elsewhere.

Our obsession with comparing the results leads to individual teachers “teaching to the test” and entire systems altering sound policies based on inconclusive evidence.

Join us in the Debate Chamber as the House argues that we should re-tip the balance in favour of other, more traditional forms of assessment and that our over-reliance on data is doing more harm than good.
